Earning additional incomes to many people is no longer a nice to have/want to but they NEED to earn an extra income just to survive. However, certain gig platforms have either a lengthy onboarding process or just do not offer services that these people are good at. In the end, most people are transitioning to becoming food delivery riders for quick cash as there aren’t many other options for them out there.

Knowing this pain and wanting to support more local freelancers and micro SMEs survive this hard time, Emad and Alfina started Swifty, a homegrown app marketplace for anyone in Klang Valley who wants to sell their skills doing what they love even if it’s a newly learnt skill from YouTube. One can offer services ranging from home improvements, designers, personal shoppers to even being a virtual companion for those who need a friend to talk to for a better mental health. Launched just about 1 month ago in early August, Swifty has received huge support from the communities with over 6,000+ app downloads and over 700+ local services currently available.
Wanting to build more than just an app for people to find and hire local services, Swifty further empowers the community by collaborating with KakiDIY and KakiRepair – it’s repair education and collaboration platform; where they both could co-organize workshops for communities who wants to learn new skills ranging from electrical, plumbing, repairing furnitures, servicing aircon and many more. From there, they would be able to provide their services on Swifty and have additional opportunities to make some side income, making it a platform to get customers working in their own free time or even becoming a full time freelancer.
Swifty currently has two apps, Swifty (for anyone who wants to hire services) and Swifty Pro (for those who want to start selling their service). Both apps are available in the App Store and Play Store where you can start exploring if you’re currently living in Klang Valley. They’ll be further expanding to other states nationwide by early next year.
