Recently KakiDIY supported BarCamp Penang<\/a>. It was an awesome event, we took back more than just great experience, learning and friendship. We took back the banners as souvenirs. As the banners are made out of good quality tarpaulin, we decided to make something out of it. Upcycling it into a tent would be simple and straightforward! <\/p>\n

To make a simple tent, the main structure that’s needed is the “supporting beam”… In this case, we are using a high tension cable. And to protect it from cutting through the tarpaulin, short PVC pipes are added.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

With the PVC piping the tarpaulin will not tear. It also makes it easy to roll the banner over it and adjust it when needed. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Secure the ends down with camping pegs or just make your own using PVC pipes or wooden stakes<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The tent ‘roof’ is done. Just place a mat underneath it and it is completed.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The “mat” is also from another BarCamp banner. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

And its done! <\/p>\n
